20.000 new workplaces in Serbia: Investments are coming and new technologies

Ministry of Economy is expecting the arrival of 20 new big investors during 2017

Around 1.8 billion euros arrived to Serbia during last year over direct foreign investmentsThe data haven't been processed yet, but according to the statistics from the end of September, most of the money came from European Union, more precisely, from Netherlands, Austria and Germany.

Government hopes that foreign companies will invest more than 2 billion euros during 2017. Ministry of Economy expects the arrival of 20 foreign companies.

In 2017 i expect more than 20.000 new workplaces. Besides new employments, investments bring us new technologies, new knowledge that are much needed. To achieve all this, we decided that it was necessary to improve the Decree on attracting investment, especially lowering the threshold so those small investors can apply for incentives - Minister of Economy Goran Knezevic told for Vecernje Novosti.

Investors who allocate 100,000 euros and employ 10 workers can count on incentives in devastated areas, starting from this year. 200.000 euros should be invested in the fourth group of employment and hire 20 workers, while the threshold for third category of local government remains 300.000 and 30 workers.

The second category demands investments of 400.000 euros and 40 workers. Threshold for the most advanced is investment of half a billion euros.
