People say that their first impression about Belgrade is that it is very beautiful, but later they come back and they say its boring. Its completely opposite case with me

Ela Dvornik, daughter of a late singer Dino Dvornik, grew up to be a beauty who travels the world and writes for blog iamella.com. Her last text was dedicated to capital of Serbia and it tries to bring Belgrade closer to the foreigners.

One long forgotten Belgrade: Traffic light was a strange device that read "keep right" (PHOTO)

We present Ela's text entirely:

Have you ever been to Belgrade? It is a capital of Serbia. I know that many of you think about Slavs in military uniforms, smoking and drinking vodka... but, you are very wrong.

Its not vodka but rakija. And it is incredibly good!

I am kidding, of course. No one looks like that in Serbia. They may be drunk most of the time, but no one is wearing military uniforms, and their English is much better than most of Europeans. Lets get back to getting drunk. You would drink it as well if it was as cheap as it is for them, but we'll get back to that.

People say that their first impression about Belgrade is that it is very beautiful, but later they come back and they say its boring. Its completely opposite case with me. When i first got here, i wasn't impressed, but now every time i get back i like it even more and more. It sounds strange, but i love Belgrade.

Belgrade is a very gray city

Buildings were made in the spirit of Socialism and everything is simply full with concrete and its a total mess. But, you have to observe Belgrade as an ugly girl with a very beautiful soul and mind. Once you get to know it, you are no longer interested in exterior, every building you walk by is beautifully designed.

Restaurants above restaurants

And that is incredible! Every time i get here on an empty stomach i say to the taxi driver to take me somewhere and he always picks a great place. The service, the prices. Incredibly well!

People are something beautiful

Hospitable, curious and eager to help. Everybody will give you smile. Everyone i met were kind, but i am sure there are always some bad people. Luckily, i haven't met them, but that is reality.

Night life

You can go out every day of the week. And New Year eve is to remember here. They are celebrating two of them, so if one goes down the hill, you always have a second chance to make it right.

Belgrade Waterfront

Belgrade is constructing a wonderful river coast which will give rise to luxury. Building that are looking towards the river and i can't wait to see them. Apartments were sold even to Harrods in Britain which means that there are lots of foreign investments.

You can still smoke wherever you want

That is not the greatest thing in the world if you are a non smoker, but i love to eat, drink and smoke after meal, i don't have to freeze outside. I know its not good, but i enjoy it.

Its cheap

At least for us that live in different countries, Serbia is very affordable. You can eat and drunk in fancy restaurant for less than 50 pounds. Cigarettes are cheap. 100 square meters in fancy area costs around 800 euros! Of course there are more expensive and more cheaper, i made some cut.

You will love the accent

It sounds exotic for those who don't know the language. Many people like it. If you listen to them, they sound very interesting. If you are from Russia, you will probably understand around 40 percent of Serbian language, 50 percent of Croatia. We have that much in common.

It is big and fun

Belgrade is one of those cities that have more centers. I would compare it to London. There is a tourist part, the one with the good shopping, traditional quarts. It basically up to you, what you are interested in.
