Pavle prevented a major tragedy in Belgrade: A coach of little basketball players pressed the break with his hand while the bus driver was dying

A tragedy occurred on Sunday morning in Belgrade on Cukarica slope when a bus driver died while driving a bus full of children.

- Everything happened in a moment, the driver started losing conscience. Coach Pavle Trifunovic luckily noticed it and he pressed the break with lightning speed since the bus started going in reverse down the slope without control - secretary of the Basketball Club Borac from Zemun, Slobodan Srezoski, told Blic. He was one of the witnesses of the scene that happened in a bus full of children aged 10 to 18.

Unfortunately, the driver Zoran Borovic (58) died soon after, most probably due to a heart attack, but greater tragedy was prevented thanks to the quick reaction of coach Trifunovic (24).

- A greater tragedy was prevented with luck and with incredibly quick reactions of the coach Trifunovic. He was the first to notice that the man was feeling bad, that he was slowly losing conscience and he managed to press on the break and to stop the bus from going backward. At that moment, the driver completely fainted, and the coach somehow managed to move his leg from the pedal and to call other to help - the secretary of the club said and added that rarely anyone was in a situation like this.

Trifunovic himself is not hiding that this has left a strong impression on him.

- Just as we started going, I approached the driver to say hi and to meet him. After my first sentence I noticed that he was not feeling well, he has a hard time breathing, he is rolling his eyes. I immediately asked where was the handbrake, around ten times, but he didn't hear me. His arms started failing, he let go of the wheel and the bus started going in reverse for a meter. I called for another coach to help, while I was holding the break with my hand - Trifunovic told Blic.

People who were on this road noticed that something was happening.
