Terrible photos of starving Rasim Cuforovic (37) from Velika Kladusa, who ended up as a slave while searching for a job on a property in Draganic near Karlovac, terrified the region and even world public. The horrible case of slavery could soon get its court epilogue, it was confirmed from the Municipal Court in Karlovac.

The case was given to Judge Blazenka Lugar-Vladic on October 3, and the charged are the members of the monstrous family Velic, father Petar and his sons Drazen, Ivan and Igor, and persons T.V., M.J., R.N., and J.A. They forced Rasim Cufurovic to do heavy work without compensation on their property, in the period from April 2016 to October 2017, abusing his poverty.

He was mistreated psychologically and physically, and he fled the terrible fate only because Velic family thought that he succumbed to injuries that they inflicted while beating him. They threw him out from the property, he was half-dead. Razim crawled and he reached the neighbors, who then called the ambulance which took him to Karlovac General hospital.

BURNS AND FRACTURES 

The doctors were shocked when they saw the condition in which Rasim was when they brought him to the hospital, they alarmed the police and the yarn of horror started unwinding.

He suffered multiple strikes to his body, fracture of the right forearm, broken teeth, broken jaw, and he had to go to a surgery. He had open wounds on his back.

He didn't have nails, they fell out when they hit him on the hands with a big hammer, and he kept urinating blood due to constant beating. He has lost 30 kilos. When the doctors managed to recover his health, he was placed into the shelter for victims of trafficking.

THEY DEFENDED THEMSELVES WITH SILENCE 

They defended themselves with silence or they completely denied committing the criminal offense against humanity and human dignity, and the charges are human trafficking, unlawful deprivation of freedom and the inflicting heavy injuries.
