A public sector salary and pension increase will be possible as soon as our results are as good as those we have achieved thus far, but we will not do that without he funds required, Serbian Finance Minister Dusan Vujovic said on Friday.

Vucic to begin consultations on Monday

If that happens and a decision is made in favour of an increase, it would have to be included in the budget law for next year, which will take effect on January 1, 2017, Vujovic explained at the NIN Fokus economic summit in Becici, Montenegro.

Commenting on a statement by IMF Mission Chief for Serbia James Roaf that an increase is out of the question, Vujovic said that the IMF, as a controlling authority, prefers to look at the conservative side.

The discussions with the IMF start on Monday, with all topics to be discussed, he said, adding that all fiscal indicators are better than expected.
