Online game "Blue Whale" which invites children to commit suicide and which made tens of children kill themselves so far in the world, has arrived to Serbia. One student of the elementary school in Belgrade got an invitation to join the game few days ago, but she immediately informed her mother.

I informed the principal of the school, and she informed the students and teachers. However, my daughter is not the only one that got the invitation, we know few more children that got it and made a screen shot and published it on their Instagram profiles - said the frightened mother.

The Serbian Interior Ministry has already issued a warning to parents and teachers to pay attention to the behavior of children. Their press release states that the "blue whale" primarily aims at the younger population, and it looks like this: various tasks are put in front of the children in a period of 50 days, they are less harmless at the beginning, like watching horror movies, and then self hurting by incising the blue whale in the hand, and it all ends up with the call to commit suicide.

So far no one has reported this "challenge game" to the national contact center for child safety on the internet, according to Tatjana Matic, but she warns that we should pay attention on children behavior on internet.

- There are news every day in newspapers that someone died or is serious injured in their desire to make a good selfie or responding to the challenges of their peers. The challenge often include taking pictures on potentially dangerous surfaces or making of short video with the aim to inflict self injury for fun - said Matic.

According to Dragan Popovic from the Institute of Psychology, depressed young people are often the target of these "games".

- My opinion is that the founders of game targeted at vulnerable and lonely children. They receive assignments and through them, the selection is made. Some child will say, "I need to get up at 04:20 for games? yea right" while the children who are more vulnerable to the influence will get up and do the tasks and thus satisfy both themselves and their "masters".

I think this happens because these children are usually unpopular and lonely, both by parents and by society and they just want to be praised and to be successful at something - Popovic says for 'Blic'.

However, psychologist Vesna Tomic disagrees with Popovic.

- I do not think it happens only to depressed and vulnerable children, I think it happens with children whose parents do not communicate. If a parent is reading books, books will be more interesting than a phone to the child, you will not be able to get into such a situation. On the other hand if the parents is looking at the phone all day, the children will do the same. So, the blame should fully falls on the parents.

If it comes to it that children begin to use these games, parents are required to seek professional help - advises Dr. Tomic.
