Members of the European Parliament welcomed the fact that the European Commission criteria were met and requested that visa liberalization is granted to the citizens of Kosovo. The resolution states that five EU member states have not yet recognized Kosovo's independence and are urged to do so, as "this would relax relations between Kosovo and neighboring Serbia".

European Parliament Rapporteur for Kosovo Igor Soltes said he expects the EU to fulfill the visa liberalization promise for Kosovo as soon as possible.

The Kosovo government should continue with the reforms and should start applying them. The fight and strengthened efforts against the organized crime must be continued for the independent and functional judiciary, added Soltes.

In order to preserve stability in the region, it is crucial to continue the dialogue between Belgrade and Pristina in a consistent and peaceful manner. It is important that both sides avoid provocations and tensions, as it was the case with the taxes imposed on the goods from Serbia and Bosnia and Herzegovina - he said.

Solters stated that these measures have a negative impact on the relations between Kosovo and Serbia and all other neighboring states. Kosovo should respect the CEFTA agreement and the Agreement on stabilization and joining in EU, stressed Soltes.
