"Children born between 1999 and 2015 were exposed to a toxic factor that caused them to be susceptible to malignant disease."

We are ready to intervene whenever security is endangered: KFOR spokesman for Telegraf about Thaci threats with the army and the police to Serbia

The research of the Commission for the investigation of consequences of NATO bombing determined this.

The chairman of this commission, Darko Laketic, told reporters in the Serbian Parliament that the research concerned only children because they are less exposed to other risk factors such as smoking.

The research was conducted in cooperation with the Institute of Public Health "Dr Milan Jovanovic Batut", and showed that the most common tumors in children aged up to four years are neuroectodermal, in those of five to nine years, blood tumors, 10 to 14 years of brain tumor, and from 15 to 18 years old solid tumors.

- This research clearly shows us that several generations in a certain sensitive period were exposed to some factor that made them more susceptible to certain malign diseases, compared to other generations in that period, said Laketic.

Laketic said that Serbia has money for research of the NATO bombing consequences, and the experts, but he is not sure if they have enough of the sophisticated equipment, they will have to acquire it or they will have to rely on partners from abroad who have that kind of equipment.

- I am thinking about Italians, who gave us the entire documentation of their commission and they offered the help for analysis, biochemical or toxicological, said Laketic.

He estimated that the bombing in 1999 left unprecedented consequences for Serbia, which he said was "a land victim", which must, not only from its own but for civilization reasons, preserve the truth "for warning and educating of oneself and others".

- I am not sure if there is unique national consciousness about the dying if Serbia in NATO aggression in 1999, that kind of tragedy cannot and must not be forgotten, nor diminished or adjusted to the needs and interests of big and small forces, he said.

The Commission for the Investigation of the consequences of NATO bombing in 1999 for the health of the citizens of Serbia was founded last year.
