Cocaine is hidden in other goods
The connection of drug-cartel in South America with numerous smugglers from the Balkans, including Serbs and Montenegrins, became "stronger" during the nineties. That is the period when the Serbian mafia began forming international groups for the transport of big shipments of drugs, escaping the former Yugoslavia after the mafia murders which had the signature of State Security.

Most of them relocated to South America, where they started the new business - organizing the smuggling of cocaine to Europe. One of them is the branch of "America Group".
In the beginning, the start of hiring our criminals in South America is connected to the jobs of a mule, courier, and bodyguards of drug dealers, and soon they became good at it. Those who didn't respect the local mafia laws were soon liquidated.
In the meantime, they developed the group of cocaine dealers who bought from Peruvians, Colombians or Bolivians who cultivated it and packed it for transport. Then they made sure it reached to Spain, Netherlands or Greece over the South America ports, or directly to the ports of these countries.
One of the financiers of an international gang which smuggled drugs from Latin America to Europe is also one of the leaders of the America Group, Zoran Jaksic (57) who was arrested in July 2016. He was sentenced to 20 years' imprisonment before the Peruvian court in Lima. Jaksic has been accused of being the head of an organization that smuggles liquid cocaine into Europe by sea since 2008. He was arrested earlier in 2009 in Madrid, however, he was soon released.
Our mafia is part of a larger structure and a facade for much stronger players. Our criminals are mostly ship organizers, in charge of finding couriers ... Serbs are mostly "soldiers" in the pyramidal chain, ordinary perpetrators, but also with a certain autonomy.
Smugglers from Serbia use sophisticated methods of hiding, including the incorporation of cocaine into different materials, in order not to detect smuggling. Some of the methods involve incorporating into implants, which includes surgical procedures on couriers and presents a risk to their lives. The methods are diverse and they mostly depend on transport means smuggling is performed.
Serbs organize the transportation of cocaine in trucks at first, and then drug packages are packed in containers on overseas ships that sail from the port of South America to Europe.
