Every fourth of July, US citizens celebrate the universal value, written in the Declaration of Independence, adopted 243 years ago. They, as you have said, are the key values that make up the American nation and whose power inspires and gives hope, but they are also important for those who are striving for freedom, equality, and prosperity.

In the previous period, we marked important anniversaries of common history, recalling the bright examples of our alliances in great historical moments. In the wake of the First World War, US President Woodrow Wilson said that "the principles for which Serbia fought and for which it suffered in that war, are identical to those advocated in the United States."

I am confident that now we have the opportunity to bring the relations of our two countries, through the development of political dialogue and the strengthening of economic and any other cooperation, to the level of true partnership, what they were and what they should be. I hope that the desire for stronger and richer Serbian-American relations is mutual and that in the future we will remember more closely what connects us.

I am using this opportunity to thank for the support the USA give us on our European way, and special thanks for the support for our efforts which Serbia makes to promote the policy of peace and cooperation on Western Balkans, and for finding compromise solution within a dialogue with Pristina.
