Banks in Serbia have started running away from social networks

Three out of four bankers say that social media is important, a recent study has shown - and while many financial institutions are just learning how to use social platforms the right way, others are running away from them

If you are one of those who comb through the profiles of institutions on social networks, you must have noticed that some banks are not there.

Banks have embarked on this path that some brands chose earlier this year - retreating from social networks.

UniCredit Group, as well as UniCredit Bank Serbia, Bosnia-Herzegovina, Zagrebacka Bank and others in the group have withdrawn from social networks, something that some other banks in Serbia have also announced they would do.

The two mentioned banks say that due to the increasing data leaks, they no longer have much confidence in the Facebook empire. Many have said the global brands stepping away, such as UK's Lush, for example, was the wind in their back encouraging them to a similar decision.

Ever since Facebook's name began to be linked to countless scandals, there has been an increasing number of individuals who are slowly giving up and deleting their profile on this social network. That this doesn't concern just private persons is demonstrated in the the moves of the aforementioned banks.

Only UniCredid has explained why it's withdrawing, in one of its answers:

"UniCredit believes that accessible and responsible communication channels that it owns and that are coordinated through a 360-degree service model are the best way to service its customers. It is for this reason that UniCredit is constantly investing in upgrading its digital channels to provide quality dialogue."

What does this mean for customers and loyal followers? Will this trend continue and will all companies now start, bit by bit, to live social networks? All we can do is “follow” the situation.
