The health status of His Holiness Patriarch Irinej, who is undergoing treatment at the Military Medical Academy, is stable.

The head of the Serbian Orthodox Chuch (SPC) is recovering along the planned course, and the doctors' consulium of the Military Medical Academy, headed by Brigadier General Professor Doctor Dragan Dincic, expects that the patriarch will soon return to his regular duties.

"His Holiness Serbian Patriarch Irinej was admitted for medical treatment at the Military Medical Academy on Thursday, August 29, due to his health. The patriarch's medical condition is stable, and the VMA medical team is taking all treatment measures and providing adequate health care to ensure a speedy recovery of His Holiness," said a statement, posted after Irinej was admitted to the VMA.

Serbian Patriarch Irinej was admitted to the clinic on Thursday, after feeling unwell in the preceding days.

His Holiness two days ago he turned 89, and was sent to the VMA from the Patriarchate as a precaution, among other reasons, precisely because of his age.
