Big day for Serbian athletics: Telenor becomes Athletics Federation's general sponsor (VIDEO)

The Athletics Federation of Serbia and Telenor have signed a sponsorship agreement, and on this occasion a news conference was held where President Veselin Jevrosimovic spoke on behalf of the Athletics Federation of Serbia, while commercial director Sasa Filipovic spoke on behalf of the Telenor company.

Jevrosimovic thanked Telenor for recognizing the importance of investing in basic sports and athletics.

"I thank the media who came in large numbers to cover this major event for the Athletics Federation of Serbia. I would like to thank Telenor, which recognized the importance of investing in basic sports," he said.

"Our sponsorship will be reflected in the great project 'Speed ​​to the Stars', performances of our athletes under the Telenor brand, as well as through the business of the Athletics Federation of Serbia. This is not primarily an investment in athletics, but also in culture and basic sports. Athletics is a sport for a healthy lifestyle, it can be practiced by anyone of any age who is able to run, not just professionals. I hope that our work will justify this sponsorship," said Jevrosimovic.

Telenor's commercial director, Sasa Filipovic, said that it was an honor for the company to become the general sponsor of the Athletics Federation of Serbia.

"Given the number of medals won by athletes in recent years, it's a great honor for us to support the Athletics Federation of Serbia. Our desire is to help. We also spoke about the problems and challenges they face. We've heard that many schools lack equipment, all this can be overcome with financial assistance, support for basic sports with the 'Speed ​​to the Stars' project."

"Also, with media's assistance, we can help promote this project to the fullest. Athletics will be promoted in our stores, which will be significant given how many people go through our stores across Serbia daily. We will also provide attractive prizes to encourage as many children as possible to apply."

"We will also help the Athletics Federation of Serbia financially, professional sports cannot move forward without assistance. Our two organizations function not only as business partners but also as friends," Filipovic concluded his address after the signing of the three-year sponsorship deal.

Filipovic also received a new jersey of the Serbian Athletics Team from President Veselin Jevrosimovic; the jersey was in this way promoted ahead of the Doha World Championships.
