"The inspiration for this facade is the book 'I am Akiko' by Stefan Ticmi, which carries a wonderful message of understanding, tolerance and love. This book is the modern 'Little Prince'," says Andrej Josifovski

The largest mural ever painted in Belgrade will be created in Dorcol; it will cover 400 square meters and will be done by artist Andrej Josifovski, also known as "Pijanista" ("Pianist").

After the second stage of the Runaway Street Art Festival, within which a mural was painted in Belgrade's Bezanijska Kosa neighborhood, the campaign is moving to Donji (Lower) Dorcol, where the largest mural ever painted in Belgrade should appear.

As Josifovski says, the painting of the mural in Dorcol will be a big challenge.

"This mural will probably take me a week, it may be perhaps the largest mural in Belgrade and it will occupy an area of 400 square meters. The inspiration for this facade is the book 'I am Akiko' by Stefan Ticmi, which carries a wonderful message of understanding, tolerance and love. This book is the modern 'Little Prince'. Another wall will be painted by my colleague Andrej Zikic Artez starting on October 1. This will mean that this part of the city will be richer by about 1,200 square meters of painted space as part of this campaign," says Josifovski.

The painting of the 400 square meter mural will come after the one that was painted in Bezanijska Kosa.

According to the founder of the festival, Andrej Josifovski, his goal has always been to create "an urban district" and an open-air museum in Bezanijska Kosa, thus creating his life's work.

"The second part of the Runaway, which was recently completed, was organized under the slogan #srcenahejt, while the mural in Bezanijska Kosa was painted by Ivan Vidovc Weedzor. His work spans an area of 170 square meters," says Josifovski.

This mural depicts a unicorn painted in the style that Ivan Vidovic is known for. Weedzor, in fact, is creating a symbolic zoo out of Belgrade, within which the animals, although painted in bright colors, stand stoically, personifying revolt and anger because, regardless of their power and size, they are all in the same cage.

Speaking about the facades he is painting on Bezanijska Kosa, Pijanista says he only needs the consent of the occupants of the building, while in order to decorate Dorcol's facades he must have the approval of the municipality.

"We took the festival downtown, to Dorcol. It's a branch of the Runaway festival and it's called Downtown Runaway, it will be the second leg of the festival," Josifovski says.

The first stage of the festival took place in May when Mexico's and one of the world's most famous street artists Farid Rueda visited Belgrade to paint two murals. He painted a mural of a girl with an eagle cap in Nikole Dobrijevica Street in Bezanijska Kosa, and a deer mural on a building in Tadeusa Koscuska Street in Dorcol.

The opening of the exhibition and the presentation of the monograph are scheduled for October 3, while the exhibition should last two weeks.
