According to an analysis by the International Center for Sports Studies, (CIES) Partizan's football youth academy has surpassed the famous one of Ajax this year, according to the number of players who have come from this club and now play in Europe's 31 best leagues.

Each October, CIES announces its list of "trainingn clubs" that have given the most of their players to the strongest leagues in Europe.

Partizan made a major step forward in the last two years. In 2017, the club's football academy was ranked 13 in Europe. Big progress, moving forward as many as ten places has been made, to see Partizan emerging at the number one spot with 75 players this year.

In 2018, the club had 69 players in Europe's 31 strongest leagues, and this year they beat Ajax by two players.

Another Serbian club is Red Star, which has slipped one place in the rankings, taking the sixth with 59 players compared to 61 last year.

Vojvodina also ranks seventh in the top ten with 56 players, while Rad is 18th with 42 players.

The biggest drop in the top ten clubs was experienced by Dynamo Kiev and Dinamo Zagreb, who are down 7 and 6 players in the strongest leagues, compared to last season.

However, when the list is reduced and only the five top leagues (England, Italy, Germany, Spain, and France) there are no Serbian clubs near the top.

There, Real Madrid rules with 39 players in the strongest leagues, which is three more than last year. Barcelona retained 34 players and are in second place that was last year held by Lyon with 35 - however, they have five fewer this year and have dropped to third place.

The biggest progress was recorded by Chelsea, who jumped from 12 to 23 players emerging from their own academy, with a good portion of them playing for their own club - one of the benefits of the current transfer ban imposed on the club.
