Special police raid Novi Sad night club after security beat young man almost to death

Aleksandar D., 33, of Petrovaradin, a security worker at an establishment located on the Petrovaradin Fortress, has been arrested on suspicion that he caused serious bodily harm.

It is suspected that on October 12, he beat Dusan N., 25, a resident of Backo Novo Selo, using his hands and feet. The beating took place in front of the night club, resulting in grievous bodily harm to to the victim.

"Dusan wanted to get inside, Aleksandar told him that he could not, because there was supposedly no room. The injured man opposed this verbally, and then the security worker beat him almost to death. Otherwise, this is the same place where just a day later two security workers, who are boxers, Miroslav P. and Novak M., beat Novi Sad man A. M.," a source has told the daily Kurir.

Aleksandar D. was detained for up to 48 hours by order of the Public Prosecutor, and after his hearing remanded in custody for up to 30 days.

After the two incidents at the night club the Novi Sad police carried out raids on the premises, with the assistance of the Criminal Police Directorate and the Special Anti-Terrorist Unit (SAJ).

Local media reported that drugs was also found at the premises.
