Serbia's Ministry of Foreign Affairs, MFA, has condemned in the strongest terms "the burning of the Montenegrin flag" saying that such an act plays into the hands of those wanting to shift responsibility for the crisis in Montenegro onto Serbia.

"Without getting into the various statements coming from Montenegro trying to falsely shift responsibility for the crisis in Montenegro from the adoption of the Law on Freedom of Religion, which is directed against the Serbian people and the Serbian Orthodox Church, onto Serbia - the Ministry of Foreign Affairs condemns in the strongest terms the burning of the Montenegrin flag," Dacic conveyed the position of the Ministry to Tanjug.

Such an act, it is stated, only plays into the hands of the of the enemies of the Serbian people and damages Serbia's reputation Serbia as a serious state that, it it stressed, is committed to resolving problems in the region through dialogue and peace, in this case in Montenegro.

Last night, during a protest in front of the Montenegrin embassy in Knez Mihailova Street in Belgrade, organized in support of the Serbs in Montenegro, Red Star fan repeatedly attempted to hit the Montenegrin flag displayed at the top of the building by firing fireworks at it.
