Is the world on the brink of a new world war?

"The most correct way is to examine all sources of information, seriously dig through foreign sources, I think the truth is somewhere in between," said Telegraf.rs Executive Director Jasmina Koprivica

How short is the fuse that could set the Middle East on fire and what is the current situation there? Telegraf.rs Executive Director Jasmina Koprivica and Milan Jovanovic from the Forum for Security and Democracy spoke about this during TV Prva's morning program.

If America is sharply criticizing Russia and China for preventing the adoption of a UNSC Declaration about last month's attack on the embassy in Iraq and assessing that this has brought its credibility into question, is this a situation where the truth is in the middle? How do news actually form, are we in this part of the world sure of whether Suleimani was a villain or a hero whom America has not understood?

"The most correct way is to examine all sources of information, seriously dig through foreign sources, American, Iranian and Russian. I think the truth is somewhere in between. The hardest part of the story is this one now with Trump saying that 52 sites are the target, some of which are of cultural importance," Koprivica said.

Until recently, the news that the US was withdrawing from Iraq, only for their defense minister to say this was not true.

"It's a concept that no one has signed. I doubt that the commander who was in Iraq and put together that letter will suffer for it. The Iraqis confirmed that they received that unsigned letter," Jovanovic said.

Is it legitimate for a president to come out and say "Yes, we ordered the bombing, we killed the general" - while on the other side, millions were being offered for "Trump's head" during Suleimani's funeral as a result of that act?

Addressing his congressmen, President Trump himself said that "they could have guessed what he was going to do and what decision he would make because he wrote about it on Twitter."

"Then what happens to the global balance? Twitter is flooded with jokes about the start of World War III. I see this social network as a place that gives people freedom, most often anonymously, to really express what they think and feel. Currently, that's the medium where positions are being expressed," Jasmina Koprivica said.
