48th FEST "Emotion Collectors": Over 300 screenings in 8 theaters, 50% discount for pensioners

The 48th International Film Festival, FEST, will be held from February 28 to March 8, 2020, and Damir Handanovic, acting head of CEBEF, stated that over 300 screenings will be held in 8 theaters, with a 50 percent discount on tickets for pensioner.

To our mutual satisfaction, during the realization of the 48th FEST we continue our cooperation with the Embassy of Canada and the Delegation of the European Union to Serbia," said Handanovic and added:

"CEBEF is currently implementing the demanding Belgrade Winter project, but that's not stopping my team from preparing other events. I am extremely pleased with the ongoing preparations for FEST. As we approach the beginning of the festival, our team is expanding, and I am particularly pleased that a large number of young people are eager to volunteer at FEST."

The slogan of the 2020 festival is "Emotion Collectors", in honor of Yugoslav actor Bekim Fehmiu and his most famous role, in "Feather Collectors" ("Skupljaci perja"; the movie is known in English as "I even met happy Gypsies"). Next year will mark a decade since the death of this great Yugoslav actor.

In memory of this giant of domestic acting, the upcoming 48th FEST will hold a retrospective of his films, and his image will play a central role in the visual identity of the festival.

"FEST will have over 300 screenings in eight theaters this year and offer a really good and diverse program to its audience. For the first time this year, we will make our elderly fellow citizens, pensioners happy - we will allow a 50 percent discount for morning screenings starting 10 AM at Kombank, for tickets bought on the day," said Handanovic and added:

"In its 10 festival days, FEST will be the film center of the region, and on that occasion we will host about 60 directors and actors from abroad who will attend their premieres at FEST. We will strive to be good hosts and present our city in the best light, from cultural and historical sites to an unforgettable nightlife, but we will not forget one of the main missions of our festival, which is to introduce foreign authors to the audience and connect them with domestic filmmakers. Maybe FEST will be a meeting place for ideas for a new movie and in one of the coming years it might premiere at our festival."
