Novak's trophy's too big for showcase; father Srdjan had to make do: His whole career's like this!

Novak Djokovic's record-breaking 8th trophy won at the Australian Open has arrived in Belgrade! It was brought by his brother Djordje, who flew in from Australia on a flight that lasted almost 24 hours, with several layovers.

Telegraf exclusively welcomed the arrival of Novak's trophy at the Novak restaurant, where a party was organized to celebrate Djokovic's 17th Grand Slam title and his return to the top spot on the ATP list.

Novak's family and their closest friends welcomed the trophy with music, and a particularly emotional moment was when his mother Dijana started singing with tears in her eyes.

The trophy had a reserved place in the showcases where all the trophies from Melbourne are kept, eight of them now. Telegraf recorded the moment when it was placed into the showcase.

Novak's father Srdjan, who encountered a minor problem, had the honor of doing this. The trophy is slightly larger than those from previous years, so Srdjan had to make do in order to fit it into the display case.

Just as Novak's entire career depended on a difficult start and how his family would manage at the beginning of his career - when our champion's parents made do in every possible way in order to provide their son with the right conditions to develop his talent and become the best Serbian athlete of all time - so it was now with putting the eighth trophy inside the case.

His father, Srdjan, recalled this with a smile - as he removed glass partitions between the trophies, and then stacked them on top of each other so that each would fit into the cabinets provided.

"It's been like this throughout his career, the motto is make do, you see. All improvisation, no system," said Srdjan.
