A record number of people came to the streets of Podgorica last night to protest against the passage of the controversial Montenegrin Freedom of Religion Law. It is believed that there were tens of thousands of people in the streets, with the procession led by Archimandrite Sava Janjic, the abbot of the Serbian Orthodox Monastery Visoki Decani in Kosovo.

Janjic said he was bringing greetings from Gracanica, Prizren, Djakovica.

"We are all held by one faith, Jesus who gives us strength. You are all an example and an inspiration to us, just keep going. We are here to defend the shrines," said Father Sava.

Those taking part in the procession in front of the Cathedral Church of the Resurrection of Christ sang the lyrics of the national anthem of Montenegro, while aerial footage shows that last night's procession was certainly one with the most participants.

The procession, which started from the Cathedral Church of the Resurrection of Christ, was joined by citizens who came from the Old Airport settlement and the Monastery of Dajbabe, and from Zeta.
