Coronavirus confirmed in 11 more people in Serbia: 83 sick in total

Coronavirus (COVID 19) has been confirmed in 11 more people in Serbia. The total number of patients is 83 in our country now, according to the Ministry of Health.

"Since the last report on March 17 at 6 pm, samples were tested from 47 people this morning, 11 of which were positive and 36 negative for the new coronavirus. There are four people in home isolation with a lighter clinical picture, while seven people are kept in the hospital, without complications, in stable general condition," the Ministry of Health said in a statement.

To date, a total of 421 people have been tested in the laboratory of the Torlak Institute.

Coronavirus arrived in Serbia on Friday, March 6 when it was confirmed in I.DJ. (43) from Backa Topola. He is currently in the Clinical Center of Vojvodina and his medical condition is stable.

As of Sunday, March 15, a state of emergency has been in force in Serbia due to coronavirus. Kindergartens, schools, universities are closed, while restaurants and cafes work part-time, and public transport in Belgrade is reduced. Those over 65 will be forbidden from leaving the house starting at 10 am today.

As of today, a curfew is in force, mandating "empty streets", i.e. people staying in their homes from 8 pm until 5 am.

Previously, in order to suppress this virus, the Serbian government first banned indoor gatherings of more than 100 people, and then of more than 50 people. All smaller border crossings with Hungary, Croatia, Bosnia and Herzegovina have been closed. Student excursions from Serbia abroad are banned, as is the entry of foreign nationals into our country, All our nationals arriving here must spend from 14 to 28 days in isolation.
