After a three-month break in Montenegro, starting on Sunday, June 7, the processions are resuming, Novosti writes.

The prayer walk, with the cross of St. Jovan Vladimir, will start on the feast day of the Holy Trinity, from the top of Mount Rumija.

The tradition that has lasted for centuries will be respected this time as well, said the parish priest of the town of Bar, Jovan Plamenac.

"The feast of Trinity is approaching, and thus the traditional long-running Rumija procession, with the cross of St. Jovan Vladimir, which was not interrupted by anyone even during the times of Turkish slavery, and was only banned by communists for three decades for ideological reasons," stressed Father Jovan, who is also the elder of the Church of the Holy Trinity on Mt. Rumija, and added that this is an opportunity to allow the continuation of processions throughout the country.

The bishop of Budimlje-Niksic, Joanikije, said that the processions organized by the Serbian Orthodox Church because of the Montenegrin Law on Freedom of Religion do not represent blackmail or threats, but the only way to publicly express dissatisfaction with such an act.

"For us, this law is non-existent, because neither the people nor the Church recognize it. However, we have no other way to express dissatisfaction and justified protest, except by taking to the streets and publicly, in a peaceful and dignified manner, expressing our opposition to such a law," said Bishop Joanikije.
