Serbian President Aleksandar Vucic today toured works on the reconstruction and construction of the Clinical Center of Serbia (KSC) in Belgrade together with Deputy Mayor of Belgrade Goran Vesic and Minister of Health Zlatibor Loncar, where they were welcomed with big applause by the workers on the construction site.

The president greeted all workers who come to Belgrade from all over Serbia, asked them about work conditions and wages, and added that he was glad that people are coming from across the country.

"I would just like to thank you for your hard work and effort, to ask you to take care of yourselves, you are doing a valuable thing for our country and our people. Thank you and your families. Thank you and happy work," the president said to the workers who welcomed him with big applause.

After the visit, the president said that a lot had been done here compared to his previous visit, and said that he expected "the first phase of the reconstruction of the Clinical Center to be completed in less than a year."

That is why, he added, the second phase of works on the KCS is important, which implies renovation of the entire center.

"We are allocating 69 million euros for the first phase. In the second phase, 43 million will be invested. A total of 112, and with some subsequent works, it will reach 120-125 million euros. These are huge investments," said Vucic.

He added that after the works are complete, this will be a new, modern Clinical Center, where the largest number of Serbian citizens will be treated.

The Emergency Center, part of surgery, plastic surgery, endocrine surgery, neurology, hematology, gastroenterology, orthopedics, cardiac surgery will be moved to the new building.

The new KCS will have 30 operating rooms, four scanners, two magnetic resonance devices, four angio rooms, and a state-of-the-art laboratory.

About the new wave of coronavirus

The president said that Serbia is preparing for a new wave of coronavirus, and that two Covid hospitals would be ready soon.

"We have growing numbers, I am very worried, because I also read percentages every few hours. Precisely as nice weather was over and people start to spend time indoors coronavirus began to flare up," said Vucic.

He said that stricter measures will be applied, if necessary, but that it's important that we learn to live with this virus, therefore, to protect ourselves and respect the measures and recommendations of the authorities.
