SPS Vice President Branko Ruzic will be the first deputy prime minister in the new Government of Serbia and the minister of Education, Science and Technological Development in the new cabinet led by Ana Brnabic, SPS Vice President Djordje Milicevic announced last night.

Novica Toncev, who is another SPS vice president, will be minister without portfolio, reports Tanjug.

Milicevic said that more SPS vice presidents, Aleksandar Antic and Slavica Djukic Dejanovic, will hold other highest-ranking positions outside the government of Serbia, but he did not specify which positions these are.

In a written statement, Milicevic said that the SPS expresses satisfaction with the agreement on strategic cooperation and partnership reached with President of Serbia and leader of the SNS Aleksandar Vucic.

"We are proud of the results of our cooperation in the past eight years in protecting our national and state interests, strengthening the country's foreign policy position and economic prosperity and progress," stressed Milicevic.

The SPS, he says, expresses readiness to make its full contribution to the realization of the six key goals defined by President Vucic.

He also said that in accordance with the agreement reached between President Vucic and the SPS-JS electoral list, SPS leader Ivica Dacic has already been elected as President of the Serbian National Assembly, while Veljko Odalovic, a member of the SPS Presidency, is the new National Assembly General Secretary.

Milicevic added that JS Vice President Marija Jevidjic has been elected as deputy parliament speaker.

Milicevic also said that SPS Vice President Zarko Obradovic has been elected as president of the Committee on Foreign Affairs, while Ljubinko Rakonjac is the new chair of the Committee on Environmental Protection.

According to Milicevic, the SPS-JS list also received eight spots as deputy chairs of parliamentary committees.
