Serbian footballers were defeated by Scotland after a penalty drama in the final of the playoffs for a spot in the European Championship (EURO), which will bring serious income issues to the FSS.

After knocking out Norway, Serbia did not manage to eliminate the Scots, who previously eliminated Israelis in the semifinals, also through a penalty shootout.

The tragic figure of the match was Aleksandar Mitrovic who missed the last penalty, which in the end cost Serbia as much as 9.25 million euros.

According to UEFA's rules, each team that secures a place in the European Championship receives a cash prize of 9.25 million euros, and that figure will now go to the Scots.

If the situation had been reversed, the FSS and the football players would have divided these millions into "equal parts" - 50 percent of the money would have been given to the Federation, while the Serbian footballers would have divided 4,625,000 euros among themselves.

The Scots will now have the opportunity to earn more, and it all depends on their showing in the continental competition, where they will play in Group B against England, Croatia and the Czech Republic.

The prize for each victory in the group stage is 1.5 million euros, while each draw is worth 750,000. Progressing to the second round of the competition would bring an additional 2 million euros.
