Another 50,000 doses of Russian Sputnik V vaccine arrive in Serbia

A plane with a new shipment of Russian Sputnik V vaccines landed at Belgrade's Nikola Tesla Airport this morning at around 8 o'clock.

Another 46,800 Pfizer vaccines will arrive at noon today, which means that including these quantities, a total of two million vaccines will have been delivered to Serbia, said Prime Minister Ana Brnabic.

According to Minister of Innovation Nenad Popovic, this is the first component of the vaccine with which 50,000 people will be vaccinated.

Popovic told Tanjug that the vaccines arrived from the Biocad factory in St. Petersburg, where two months ago, in the presence of the Russian state leadership, a line for production of the Sputnik V vaccine was launched.

"Serbia is still the only country in Europe to which the Russian authorities have approved deliveries of significant amounts of the vaccine. That speaks about the relationship that Russia has with her Serbian brethren. In Russia, the vaccination process in Serbia which is being carried out under the leadership of President Vucic is being followed with attention and praise," said Popovic.

He expressed satisfaction, because the delivery of vaccines from Russia is being carried out according to the agreed timetable.

"We agreed on the purchase of two million vaccines from Russia. I expect that by the end of March, that is, during the first half of April, all the vaccines will be delivered to Serbia," said Popovic.

The minister pointed out that the vaccines that arrived in Belgrade this morning will be immediately delivered to the Torlak Institute, from where they will be distributed to vaccination spots throughout Serbia.
