US President Joseph Biden has congratulated Montenegrin President Milo Djukanovic July 13, Montenegrin Statehood Day, but in the process confused him with Prime Minister Zdravko Krivokapic.

Namely, Biden stated in his message that it had been important to hear "your input during our recent NATO summit in Brussels" - which Djukanovic was not present at. Instead, Krivokapic was the one who was at the NATO headquarters in mid-June.

In his congratulatory message, Biden wrote, among other things, that the United States "will continue to provide strong support to the people of Montenegro in their progress on the Euro-Atlantic path and in implementation of the reforms needed to join the European Union."

Biden also congratulated Montenegro on the fourth anniversary of joining NATO.
