Zlatko B. (53) from Gornji Milanovac, who drowned yesterday in the Greek summer resort of Sarti, worked for the Lead and Zinc Mine as a technical director. As the company has told Telegraf.rs, the tragedy happened on the sixth day of his vacation. The family told them that the help arrived in time, but the resuscitation was unsuccessful.

"Yesterday at 10:30 our time, 11:30 Greek time, he unfortunately drowned. The autopsy will show whether the cause of death was in fact drowning or something else," the company told us, adding that Zlatko was pulled out of the water very quickly.

"It happened in the shallows and it is not clear to anyone how he was not rescued. An autopsy will be performed, probably tomorrow in Thessaloniki, and then we will know the real cause of death."

As we have been told, he went on vacation with his son and wife on July 18, and the tragedy happened on the sixth day. As the company he worked for has been told, the doctors performed resuscitation for a full 45 minutes. Although they are shocked by the sudden death, they say they are not aware that he had any health problems.

According to them, the autopsy will be covered by travel insurance, after which the body will be repatriated to Serbia. The Lead and Zinc Mine (ROC) will bring his widow and child back to Gornji Milanovac tomorrow.

The company also says that they heard allegations about red flags on the beach due to high waves, but that they do not know whether the fatal event happened in those circumstances.

"Late Zlatko was a very responsible person. We do not believe that he would go into the water if it was forbidden," they said, adding that this death affected them deeply.

As we reported earlier, there had been warnings about high waves on social networks, which people say are common in Sarti. We have been told unofficially that another tourist, a Romanian, also drowned there yesterday. A Hungarian drowned seven days earlier. Three swimmers were rescued at the last minute three days ago.
