On Tuesday, Minister Momirovic visited the works on the Laz tunnel, on the route of the future highway from Preljina to Pozega.

Momirovi stated that in addition to the construction of the highway, bypasses around Gornji Milanovac, Uzice and Pozega will also be built.

After touring the works, Momirovic told reporters that construction of the bypass around Gornji Milanovac and Uzice will begin in September, and around Pozega in February or March next year.

Momirovic said that the bypass around Pozega will cost between seven and 10 million euros, and that the price will include regulation of the watercourse of the river Skrapez and the planned overpasses.

Speaking about the works on the section Preljina-Pozega, Momirovic said that the works are progressing according to the planned dynamic and added that it is one of the most difficult sections with two longest tunnels in Serbia, and with the most complex geology.

He stressed that the section would be completed within the planned deadline, and that three more bypasses around Gornji Milanovac, Pozega and Uzice had been added to the project.

Momirovic said that the new highway and bypasses will bring new investors to Western Serbia, and will lead to the realization of the goal from the "Serbia 2025" plan, which is that by 2025 the average salary in our country should be 900 euros.

The president of the municipality of Pozega, Djordje Nikitovic, said that the bypass around Pozega is as important for the citizens as the highway itself. As he explained, freight traffic passes through the town's center and next to two primary schools, and added that the bypass will solve that problem.

Nikitovic added that the bypass will bring new investors, speed up traffic, but also reduce air pollution in the town's center.
