Big spectacle ahead: Red Star Belgrade could play against Dinamo Zagreb in Champions League playoffs

Of course, that's if both teams manage to skip the hurdle that is third round of qualifications

Red Star footballers have found out about their potential rival in the playoffs for this season's Champions League group stage! If they best Moldova'd Sheriff in the 3rd round of qualifications, Red Star will play against the better squad from the Dinamo Zagreb v Legia Warsaw tie.

If they reach the playoffs, Red Star (Crvena Zvezda)  will play the first game at home, with that round scheduled to be played August 17-18. The return leg will be played seven days later.

If "the neighborhood derby" happens, it would be the first clash between Red Star and Dinamo since the breakup of Yugoslavia, while the Zagreb team in the meanwhile once played against Partizan Belgrade, losing 1-0 away, and then winning 5-0 at home.

Red Star has already secured participation in the group phase of the Conference League, and if they defeat Sheriff they also have a Europa League spot guaranteed. In case of losing to the Moldovan team, the Serbian champions will compete in Europa League playoffs, and will learn about the possible opponent in that competition later in the day.

Here are the other Champions League 3rd round qualifier ties:

Salzburg v Bronby

Cluj v Young Boys - Ferencvarosi v Slavia

Malmo v Rangers - Olympiacos v Ludogorets

Monaco v Sparta - Genk v Shakhtar Donetsk

Spartak v Benfica - PSV v Midtjylland
