As soon as colder days arrive, planning a winter vacation in Serbia usually comes down to choosing between two mountains - Zlatibor and Kopaonik.

Both have long been known as outstanding tourist resorts with numerous facilities that satisfy the taste of all generations.

However, there are more people who will say that Kopaonik has an advantage over Zlatibor, and they cite the fact that this mountain is the largest ski resort in Serbia, that it has a richer nightlife and that, after all, it has long since become a matter of prestige to vacation on this Serbian mountain beauty.

For four decades, Kopaonik has had the status of an international ski center, which was granted to it by the International Ski Federation. But, few people know that the first skiing course was held on Kopaonik back in 1935, when a decision was made to build the first mountain lodge in this part of Serbia. Skiing competitions were held until 1941, when the mountain lodge was destroyed.

The first ski lift on Kopaonik was built in 1964, and today there are 23 ski lifts and trails; What distinguishes this mountain from most ski resorts is the fact that accommodation facilities are located next to the existing system of trails and ski lifts, making things easier for vacationers.

A snowboarding park, a lighted ski trail, ski cannons producing artificial snow, a bobsled track on rails... these are just some of the offerings that the "Silver" or "Sunny Mountain", as Kopaonik is colloquially known by tourists, can be proud of.
