The Belgrade Metro has been talked about for exactly 53 years, we are starting to build and it will be ready in six years, announced President of Serbia Aleksandar Vucic, while visiting a construction site for a metro depot plateau in Makisko Polje.

"Charles de Gaulle said that the bourgeoisie was against him, but that he was building it for his people. This will bring all the municipalities of the city closer. Our job is just to work. You can erase everything, but you just can't erase work, knowledge and results. We are pushing the country forward, to work and to build. Every week, I will come to visit the works on the metro," announced President Vucic.

Asked to comment on the latest developments related to the roadblocks, Vucic was clear.

"Democracy must sometimes suffer the terror of the minority, that must have its limits, but we must show good will. My advice to the authorities is to let them do what they want, so that people can see the difference between those who work and build and those who have done nothing. The indignation of ordinary citizens in Serbia is so great over what happened in previous days that I cannot describe it. I just call on people to show restraint, everything comes to an end. Democracy is solved with paper and pencil. We have entire analyses on the organization of those protests, the money, the criminal structures," said Vucic.

Asked whether he has signed the Law on Expropriation, Vucic said that he probably will.

"What I read this morning, it seems to me that there is nothing that goes against the Constitution of Serbia. I have not signed it yet, but I have read three different opinions, I will ask for additional opinions, and then make a decision," announced Vucic.
