The best tennis player in the world, Novak Djokovic, spoke for L'Equipe, reiterating his position on Covid vaccination and stressing that he decided not to get vaccinated based on all the information he has.

He said that information is changing and that he does not know whether his stance will as well, because everything is changing quickly, which is evident in the decisions made by some governments.

"Based on all the information about the vaccine, I decided not to get vaccinated. This is my position. Will this change or go away? I don't know, everything is changing quite quickly, we see that in the decisions of some governments. At the moment, I don't feel the need to protect my body (in that way) and I don't feel like a threat to others. Whether you are vaccinated or not, you can still transmit the virus. This is my stance and, consequently, my mind is completely open. Anything's possible," said Novak.

The journalist asked Novak about saying that he senses if something changes in his body even by 0.5 percent, and what that specifically means.

"It means just that! My body is the apple of my eye, my main wealth. As a top athlete, I have to take care about being competitive and consistent."

Novak stressed that he does not like those who impose anything, that he listened to the opinions of specialist doctors from Serbia, France, Switzerland, the US... that he made a decision based on all that information and that he wants to be the sole owner of his body.

"I'm not making any claims, I'm not a doctor, an expert. I don't like those who impose things. Yes, I have an open mind, but I also have to safeguard my integrity and my autonomy. Because no one on this earth knows my body better than I do. I want to be the sole owner of my body. If I don't have enough understanding of my own body, it's like giving my autonomy away to someone else."

"They say sometimes that I am prone to certain influences. No. Like everyone, I consult with doctors of conventional medicine. A lot. Specialists in pulmonology, immunology, from Serbia, France, Switzerland, the United States... I listen to them and based on the knowledge of my body, I make my own analyses and make decisions," said Djokovic.
