The Spanish police have detained a total of five people on suspicion that they are linked to the murder of a Serbian citizen that happened last Wednesday.

Two of those detained, who local media report are also citizens of Serbia, were released over the weekend, while three people should be questioned by an investigating judge today.

It is suspected that these three persons are directly responsible for the killing of the Serbian and the wounding of a citizen of Bosnia and Herzegovina, who is still in the hospital.

Most of the five arrested were based in the Costa del Sol and are said to be part of a criminal group linked to drug trafficking, weapons and home invasions.

It is suspected that theft of drugs or a "turf war" is the reason for the clash in which the Serbian lost his life.

It is believed that the victim arrived to an arranged meeting, when weapons were drawn. The Serbian remained dead on the spot, while the citizen of Bosnia and Herzegovina, who was in a parking lot, got seriously injured and transported to the hospital and is currently in a stable condition.

At the scene, the police found two vehicles from which fingerprints and other evidence was taken, which led to the arrest of the three people who will be questioned today.

"He went as a tourist"

A relative of the victim told Kurir that they heard about his killing from the media and that they were shocked by it, because, as far as he was aware, his cousin was on a tourist trip to Spain to get some rest.

"We can't believe that he is gone. We were horrified when we heard in the media that he was killed. No one from the authorities in Spain or the embassy has yet informed us that we have lost him," the relative said last week.

"He went to Spain alone last week to rest and recharge batteries, because half a year ago he lost his mother. He was depressed, so he wanted a change of scenary. The last time we spoke was on Monday when he arrived in Spain. He told us that everything was fine, that the flight went well and he was visibly in a good mood."
