The Higher Public Prosecutor's Office in Belgrade proposed today to the Higher Court in Belgrade to sentence Predrag Petrovic to 12 years in prison for the murder of Milibor Petrovic, committed in June 1994.

The prosecution also wants the defendant to remain detained.
The prosecution pointed out in its closing statement that Petrovic's defense was unconvincing and refuted by the evidence presented, and that the prosecutor managed to prove that the defendant did commit the crime of murder.
Petrovic had been on the run for almost 27 years, and was extradited from Italy only last year. The verdict of the Higher Court in Belgrade will be announced on Monday.
