Veselin Jevrosimović: Engineers of the virtual world!

It is known that the job of a programmer is currently most preferred, however, there is a difference between ordinary programmers and software engineers.

Veselin Jevrosimović: Here's how the Internet has changed the music industry!

Precisely on the difference wrote Veselin Jevrosimović, President of Comtrade, the largest IT company in the whole of Eastern Europe. Here is what he wrote in the daily list of the "Informer".

"Everyone knows that jobs in the IT industry are among the best paid jobs in the world, and in our country. The most wanted professions are developers. That is why more and more young people are opting for education in this area, which is very good for our country. I personally believe that we should devise a clear strategy for the systematic promotion and helping domestic IT education for it to become the main export product of Serbia, but this is a special topic. Also, more and more adult people I meet of various profiles are willing to re-qualify and get into software. Now, for a full understanding of this job, it is important to try to offer some clarification.

Even though the wider audience thinks of IT specialists as "developers", a much more regular and accurate name would be "software engineer". Although the difference does not seem important, it is huge. The job of a software engineer is to design applications, develop mechanisms and construct products in the virtual space the same way that mechanical, electrical and civil engineers work in the physical world. I like to say that the job of a software engineer (after all, as all others) is to solve problems, make decisions and take responsibility using diverse skills, constantly being improved, putting intellectual effort, knowledge and experience. All other technical details of specific technologies, programming languages or tools. Everything else is relatively easy to learn if you understand the essence, the core principles and rules.

Veselin Jevrosimović: Computers will soon recognize us!

A plain "developer" is someone who only writes computer programs based on defined tasks. It is not to say that their job is less important, negligible or simple,  but in this area we can not compete with countries that have a lot more people and which can offer very low prices. Our task should be to educate and train capable software engineers because there are few of them in the world, and are worth very much. "
