THIS WOMAN HAS THE LOWEST WAGE IN SERBIA: How does she survive with 2.000 dinars a month?

- I accepted to work for such a small wage to save my position and I hoped something will change in the mean time - said Slavica Zakovic

In Kratov at Priboj, Slavica Zakovic is working as a cook in the elementary school "Blagoje Polic" for a wage of 2.000 dinars. For that amount, when she works, she makes around 40 meals for pupils and employees in that facility.

Sex education introduced in Serbian schools!

Namely, she had her wage reduced according to the regulations on the financing of institutions of primary education, which is in force since last year, a small school where she works, in relation to the number of students is entitled to 10 percent of the cook norm. This percentage means to work four hours a week, and the principal divided it into two days since last year, in order not to completely stop the work of school cafeteria.

- I just got a message from the bank. Half of the paycheck, thousand dinars. I did not receive the last one because it was under thousand dinars. I accepted working for such a low wage in order to save my position, hoping something will change in the meantime. I can't complete my jobs around making food in those two days, washing the dishes and the rest for those two hours, I always stay how much is necessary for the cafeteria to work, as much as possible normally - said Slavica and adds that she is happy if she got half a normal wage approved, which was approved in some other schools with the same number of pupils.

Then, Slavica would receive 10.000 dinars.

If we do the calculations, her daily wage in the days she work is 250 dinars. Taking in consideration that she makes 40 meals a day, that means that one meal is 5 dinars.

- We are very pleased with the work of the kitchen. Slavica is hard working and precise, she makes home made pies, she makes her own crust, pastry, and other food is tasty, children are pleased. It would mean a lot to us if the kitchen continued working because there is no bakery or other shops where children could buy snacks - said Jelena Scepovic, mother of the child that feeds in school cafeteria in Kratov, reports Danas.

Zoran Tanaskovic, the school principal, said that this year there was a promise of 25% increase in wages, and he will continue to fight for the Slavica to get at least half of the pay, because it is not possible to organize the work of the kitchen in any other way. Parents are also displeased because the kitchen is working for only two days, and the employees don't like it either. The cook is in the works position because she works for the symbolic wage.

- Last year we sent requests to the relevant Ministry with explanation, but we have not been granted an increase in the standard. This year we repeat the request, and there are some indications that they will meet our needs- said the principal of the school.

In order to make savings in education, the Ministry has issued various regulations on financing.
