Coronavirus death in the government of Serbia: Ministry of Environment state secretary dies

State Secretary at the Ministry of Environment Branislav Blazic has died as a result of the COVID-19 disease, Telegraf has confirmed.

After testing positive for coronavirus he was placed in the Infectious Diseases Clinic, and in a statement to the press five days ago, Minister Goran Trivan said that Blazic was connected to a ventilator.

Branislav Blazic was from Kikinda, a city that is one of the focal points of the coronavirus epidemic in Serbia, but he lived and worked in Belgrade for years.

He graduated from the Faculty of Medicine and was a specialist in general surgery. From 1986 to 1988 he was chief of the Medical Emergency Service in Kikinda. He also worked as a surgeon at the Kikinda General Hospital.

He was elected as a member of parliament at the federal, republic and provincial levels for several terms.

He was one of the founders of the Serbian Progressive Party and a member of the SNS presidency.
