Minister Mesarovic's strong reaction to scandalous decision made by Novi Sad court
Serbian Deputy Prime Minister and Minister of Economy Adrijana Mesarovic stated in a post on Instagram that "the decision of the court in Novi Sad to release Marija Vasic and two PSG and Stav activists, who are charged with most serious crimes against the constitutional order of the state, is completely scandalous."
Until recently, even those from the PSG party distanced themselves from them (the persons now under house arrest) because they were openly planning a terrorist attack, which the whole of Serbia heard, and today the court is releasing those same people, the minister wrote, and added:
"I wonder who some judges serve? Do they serve the people and the state, for which they were elected and took the oath, or do they serve armchair blockaders and some power centers who are persistently trying to carry out a color revolution in Serbia? With the decision to release the terrorists, have they confirmed that they are accomplices to those trying to steal and destroy our country, trample on the Constitution and laws? The question for some is how much their honor costs?
And the question for others - how big of a hypocrite do you have to be to fight against pressure on the judiciary, for independence of institutions, which is why you have been blocking and making life miserable for normal people in Serbia for seven months, while on the other hand you blow whistles, scream, tie yourself to the fences of the court in Novi Sad and in every way pressure the court to release the terrorists?
Why is it allowed to threaten the judiciary, or suggest what decisions it should make? And why does a part of the judiciary agree to that, turning its back on lawfulness and justice, the Constitution and laws?
I don't want to believe that the scandalous decision of the court in Novi Sad is a signal that justice is being forced out of Serbia. I expect that we will return to the right attitude towards democratic principles and the independence of the judiciary as one of the pillars of our country. I will remind you that, while the court releases the terrorists, four young men have been in custody for four months because they defended the premises of their party.
Serbia will defeat all those who do not respect the Constitution and laws and all those who do not allow justice to be served, by which we mean the judges who made such a scandalous and disgraceful decision and all those who put pressure on them not to respect the Constitution and laws."
