The delivery of crude oil to the Pancevo Refinery via the JANAF pipeline has started, Tanjug has learned.

Minister of Mining and Energy Dubravka Djedovic Handanovic said earlier that, after almost 100 days, the first quantities of crude oil will arrive for NIS via JANAF, that it will be delivered this week, and that this means that the Pancevo Refinery will start working around January 16 and produce diesel around January 26 or 27.

Djedovic Handanovic said that she expects that the talks between Gazprom Neft and MOL about the acquisition of the Russian share in NIS will be successfully completed and that OFAC will extend the operating license to NIS, which is under US sanctions.

"Good news on Tuesday morning, after almost 100 days, the first quantities oil will arrive via JANAF. That's about 85,000 tons that will be delivered this week. So, the Pancevo refinery will start operating around January 16, in any case before the end of the week. We expect the first diesel to come out of production and be on the market around January 26, 27," said Djedovic Handanovic.

The minister added that it is expected that, after those 85,000 tons, an additional 35,000-45,000 tons of oil will arrive during the next week, which will ensure that in addition to domestic crude oil, of which there is currently around 120,000 tons, the Refinery can continue to operate for a longer period of time even, after January 23.
