Ljiljana Zelen-Karadzic, the wife of the first president of the Serb Republic (RS, Serb entity in Bosnia and Herzegovina), Radovan Karadzic, passed away today in East Sarajevo at the age of 81.

The Srbija (Serbia) Hospital in this RS town has confirmed the news.
Zelen- Karadzic was a neuropsychiatrist by trade, and from 1993 to 2002 she served as the head of the RS Red Cross organization.
Ljiljana Zelen-Karadzic was born in 1945 in Sarajevo, where she graduated from the Faculty of Medicine.
The place and date of her funeral will be announced at a later date.
