Vucevic: Shocking scenes of violence in Novi Sad

Leader of the Serbian Progressive Party (SNS) Milos Vucevic, said today that he was shocked by the scenes of violence in Novi Sad and that United Serbia will win thanks to hard work and patriotism, not violence.

"I am shocked by the scenes of violence provoked by the blockaders, during which one blockader hit a woman in the face with his fist while Ilija Srdanovic stands next to him, who, instead of trying to separate people and reduce tensions, cheers for one side and eggs on the physical conflict," stated Vucevic.

According to him, SNS activists were speaking with the citizens of Novi Sad and promoting their pre-election program, which was "enough for the blockaders to start insulting them, thinking that they have the right to deny a political option the right to political action."

Vucevic appealed on SNS activists and supporters to avoid conflicts at all costs and not to fall for cheap provocations, stressing that SNS is making appeals to reduce tensions in society.

"United Serbia (electoral list) will win thanks hard work and patriotism, not violence," said Vucevic.

According to media reports, a Student List supporter punched an SNS activist in the head last night in Novi Sad, and the footage shows that Ilija Srdanovic was among the Students List supporters at the place where the incident occurred. Srdanovic heads that electoral list.

The reports said Srdanovic approached supporters of United Serbia and to provoke them, after which a group of supporters of the Student List began to approach them as well.
