Digital dumpsters that open with a card arrive to Vracar

The pilot project in Vracar is meant for residents of surrounding buildings

Residents in Njegoseva Street in Vracar are among the first in Belgrade to receive dumpsters that open and close using a card. The city's urban planner Marko Stojcic emphasized that this project is of great importance for the capital.

"Belgrade in all segments insists that everything should be completely organized in the communal sense and we have done a pilot project with ten dumpsters for communal and ten others for waste that is recycled," Stojcic emphasized.

He added that only residents from the surrounding buildings will be able to use these dumpsters.

"They cannot be used by green market vendors or by restaurants, in fact, they must sign a special contract in order to dispose of their waste there," Stojcic said.

According to him, this campaign will be expanded in cooperation with the public utility company Gradska Cistoca.

"We have Toplicin Venac as a recently reconstructed environment, which doesn't have a complete solution in terms of waste disposal and the plan for the future is to apply the use of lockable dumpsters in other parts of the city," said Stojcic.

Waste can be disposed of into a digital container by holding the card in the intended spot for one second. These cards cannot be forged.
