The director of the Office for Kosovo and Metohija, Petar Petkovic, says that Albin Kurti invaded the north of Kosovo and Metohija two days ago in order to have something to offer his voters ahead of local elections, since he has nothing else.

Appearing on RTS, Petar Petkovic said that a regular report of the UN secretary-general about the work of UNMIK will be presented at the session of the United Nations Security Council, while the head of Serbian diplomacy will present the facts that the Serbian people are facing.

"I don't expect anything special. Considering that the West supports Kurti and Pristina, whatever crises they cause, they are the favorite of the West, we must be well aware of that in our fight for Kosovo and Metohija," the director of the Office for Kosovo and Metohija noted.

Statements issued by some embassies in Pristina after the operation of the Kosovo police and the incursion into the north of Kosovo and Metohija show that they support terror and violence.

"They say that the operation was against smuggling of goods, they did not even mention that Srecko Sofronijevic was shot, that a woman into whose yard a lot of tear gas was thrown has died," said Petkovic.

He pointed out that Pristina does not have the right to enter the north of Kosovo and Metohija with rifles, because, according to an annex to the (Brussels) agreement from 2013, the consent of the KFOR commander and the mayors of the four (Serb) municipalities in the north is needed for that.

"They stormed Coca-Cola and Fanta (cans), they burst into a pharmacy. If we had not managed to keep regular reporting about the situation on the ground in the Security Council, who would today testify about all these terrors in Kosovo and Metohija, about everything that happened," said Petkovic.

According to him, it is clear to everyone that Kurti did not enter the north to deal with goods smuggling, as has been stated.

"Drug trafficking and the rest of it is happening in the south, he wanted to go to the north before elections to clean up his image in front of his public, tarnished because he had to withdraw when the sticker regime (for Serbian license plates cars) was established. Kurti is generating a crisis for a fistful of votes, he has nothing to present to the voters, the tried and tested recipe is to attack Vucic, the Serbs, enter the north," Petkovic believes.

He stressed that it is important for Serbs to vote in local elections on Sunday, and for the Serb List candidates to win.

"They have the support of Vucic and Belgrade, thus maintaining our umbilical cord, it's a guarantee of further investments. Others besides the Serb List are breaking up of Serb unity, they have the support of Pristina. Let's keep all ten Serb municipalities in Kosovo," said Petkovic.

He noted that during the meeting between the president of Serbia and the Serbs from Kosovo and Metohija, held in Raska, a clear message had been sent - that someone will be there to protect the Serbs if KFOR and the international community do not.

"If they don't want to do it, there are those who will. Belgrade will protect the Serb people because we will not allow a pogrom and some new (Operation) Storm," said the director of the Office for Kosovo and Metohija.
