The Omicron strain has been officially confirmed in Croatia, local media report, adding that this information will be announced at a press conference at the Croatian Institute of Public Health on Monday.

The new variant, as Jutarnji writes, was confirmed in a foreign businessman who was in Croatia for a meeting, after which there was suspicion that he was infected with the new strain of coronavirus.
There are a number of people who were in contact with him, so they are now self isolating, and at least two of the contacts are positive.
Over the previous 24 hours, Croatia had 728 new cases of coronavirus while 52 people died.
