A car chase in the center of Ljubljana has ended tragically when a van, which is believed to have been transporting six migrants, hit a traffic light, killing one of the passengers, Slovenia's STA agency reported.

Local police said they tried to stop the van on a highway east of the capital.
The driver refused to stop and the search for the van started in Ljubljana, with everything ending in an accident in the central parts of the town.
Preliminary information indicates that the driver was from Kosovo and Metohija, and that he was transporting migrants illegally.
He has been detained.
