The new rules for self-isolation of people who were contact with those infected with coronavirus, as well as quarantining of thosee who have Covid will most likely start to be applied today, members of the Crisis HQ have announced.

Professor Dr. Sanja Radojevic-Skodric, director of the Republic Health Insurance Fund, and epidemiologist Professor Dr. Branislav Tiodorovic confirmed that home isolation for those infected with Covid will last ten instead of 14 days.

However, if someone wants to stop it earlier, they can do a PCR test after seven days, at the expense of the state. The test must be negative for isolation to end.

Sanja Radojevic-Skodric stressed that home isolation lasting 14 days after leaving the hospital will no longer be required.

"In patients who have a developed clinical picture, the length of home isolation depends on the duration of symptoms, so it can happen to be 14 days if they still have the symptoms, which is decided by doctors who end the sick leave and decide on its duration if the patient is employed," said Branislav Tiodorovic.

He added that the Batut Institute of Public Health should make precise guidelines which will be included in the Professional-Methodological Instructions which the Government of Serbia should adopt so that they can start to be applied.

Also, there was talk during the Crisis HQ meeting on Friday about how to treat contacts of infected persons, but no decision was made. Batut is expected to issue an official statement.

According to media reports, the duration of home quarantine for close contacts will be seven instead of 10 days. It will most likely be possible to end quarantine after the seventh day with a negative PCR test, while a sample for PCR testing can be taken no earlier than on the sixth day from the start of quarantine, and the testing is done out of pocket.

The price of PCR testing performed on personal request has been reduced from 9,000 to 6,000, while the price of the antigen test was reduced from 3,500 to 1,800 dinars.
