The Higher Public Prosecutor's Office in Belgrade ordered an autopsy on the bodies of married couple Z.Z. (73) and V.Z. (70) from Zemun, and according to initial information, all the evidence points to a mercy killing-suicide.

As Telegraf.rs has learned, nine gunshot wounds were found on the woman's body, testifying to the murder. The body of Z.Z was found not far from her with a gunshot wound to the head, so it is suspected that he committed suicide.

The investigation determined that the shots were fired from the same CZ 7.65 millimeter pistol that was in illegal possession.

The police conducted an investigation, but also interviewed a relative of the couple. He revealed the motive for the murder and suicide, on the basis of which it has been determined, for now, that it was a mercy killing.

"She was seriously ill and did not want to live. She begged him to take her life. We believe that's why he fired many shots, so that she wouldn't have the chance to survive," says our source close to the investigation.

The couple's bodies were found in a bedroom.

According to the relative, he last saw them on July 14, and called the police on July 16 because no one was answering their cell phone, the door was locked, and the blinds were down.
