Director of the Office for Kosovo and Metohija Petar Petkovic on Tuesday assessed as senseless and cynical the constant efforts of the prime minister of the provisional institutions of Pristina, Albin Kurti, to use Belgrade as an excuse for the militarization of the province and the systematic jeopardizing of the security and rights of the Serb people, because "it is clear to everyone that Kurti's regime and its ideology of hatred are the only and main threat to the stability of the region."

"What Kurti and his ideologically like-minded people are doing to the Serbs in Kosovo and Metohija stems from the most open chauvinism and unprovoked hatred, to which Belgrade has never responded with hatred and threats, but only in a restrained and responsible manner, persistently extinguishing the fires that Kurti is trying to ignite," said Petkovic's statement.

He added that even the sponsors of the Pristina separatists do not believe in Kurti's fairy tales about an angry and aggressive Serbia, because Serbia has shown with political and economic results that it is a successful country and the axis of the entire region's progress.

Petkovic stressed that the daily attacks on Serbs and their property in Kosovo and Metohija are not a reaction, because Albanians or members of any other national group are not treated that way in central Serbia.

"So Kurti does not need weapons and the so-called Kosovo security forces to defend himself against threats from Belgrade, but to implement his plan of ethnic cleansing of the southern Serbian province. We live in a time when the peoples of our region strive for cooperation and want prosperity and predictable future, and the only obstacle to building such a region is precisely Kurti and his malign political influence," Petkovic assessed.

He believes that the main motive of Kurti's policies is the fear of successful policies, which, Petkovic said, he openly admits.

"Kurti's obsession with President of Serbia Aleksandar Vucic is pathological, and behind it lies a small separatist's fear of a successful Serbia and its president, who proves every day that wise politics, responsibility and hard work can change the course of history. Albanian separatists could not have a more difficult and a more challenging opponent, because Vucic's life and political mission is a successful Serbia - and that is a nightmare for Albanian separatists and for all other dishonest political players in the Balkans," said Petkovic.
